The UK patent for Cialis (tadalafil) expired on the 31st January 2014, to 14 January 2014, after a three-month technical review. The review took aim at the lack of robust data on patent expiry, quality, safety, patient data and the lack of a ‘guideline’ for expiry date. A date on the patent’s expires list could theoretically still be in the future.
This was confirmed in a statement on the patent expired list which said: ‘Our detailed review of patent expiry and quality data revealed a date on whichCialis (tadalafil) (Cialis) tablets (tadalafil) andAdcirca (dapoxetine) (Cialis) capsules (dapoxetine) (Cialis) tabletsandCialis (tadalafil) tablets andAdcirca (dapoxetine) (dapoxetine) (dapoxetine) tablets of the newTadalafil tabletsis now out of production and is not expected to be available until after January 2019’.
The patent for Cialis expired in 2014, to 14 January 2014, and is now valid for up to 36 months after the date on which the patent was renewed. The patent is still valid for up to 36 months after the patent was renewed if it is renewed after 12 January 2014, or if the patent was renewed continuously for at least the next six months.

• Seizure medication:- carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin and primidone
• Heart or blood pressure medication:- disopyramide, amiodarone, quinidine and procainamide
• Anti-viral medication:- telaprevir, atazanavir, retonavir, indinavir, saquinavir and cobicistat
• Recreational drugs:- amyl nitrate (poppers)
